Since Bull Terriers are prone to some hereditary diseases such as deafness and kidney problems, the parents should be tested for these health disorders prior to breeding. The importance of tests is evident. It is determined that the number of affected Bull Terriers bred from diseased parents is higher than in those bred from healthy dogs.

The aspects of congenital diseases should be given considerable attention to. Explore the causes of health problems in Bull Terriers and you will see that most of them stem either from irresponsible breedings or inappropriate care.

To exclude the possibility of poor breedings, take a BAER test. This test is not painful to the dog and has to be done only once. Another suggested test is Urine Protein: Urine Creatinine Ratio. The dogs are usually tested at the age of twelve months old. However, additional tests later in life are necessary to make sure the dog is free of this disease.
