Bull Terrier Kennel

The American Bull Terrier Kennel Club recognizes Bull Terriers of various sizes. The Bull Terrier is a sturdy and compact companion dog with a good stamina and enviable intelligence. The dog originated in the 1800s, and they sprung from the English Bulldog and the English White Terrier, which is now non-existent.

Actually, it was James Hinks of Birmingham, who created a wonderful combination of the determination of the Bulldog and the intelligence of the White Terrier. Early Bull Terriers were pure white, and it was in the early 1900s that other colors were accepted. Today, Bull Terriers come in various color permutations. Tri-colored species are no less valuable than white Bull Terriers. Reputable Bull Terrier Kennel clubs are strict on each dog’s quality, and they do not admit species with undesirable traits to participation in breeding projects.

The Bull terrier of today is a very friendly and communicative companion dog. Purebred Bull Terriers are never aggressive toward people, although they do feel suspicious about strangers. Males can be very dog-aggressive, because they are naturally territorial. Bull Terriers are tightly muscled, and they have specific egg-shaped heads, with the muzzle tapering evenly toward the nose without a stop. It is absolutely imperative that each and every Bull Terrier has this sort of body formation, as it is an absolute must in every Bull Terrier Kennel club.

Bull Terriers love human company. They are not suited for people leading a sedentary life, and they require daily rigorous exercise. These dogs are very fond of playing with children, but children must be taught how to properly handle such a strong and self-assured dog. Bull Terrier Kennels do not usually recommend this dog for families with young children, because there is a risk of an accident.

Bull Terriers have a dense and short coat, which is easy to groom. These dogs should not be bathed too frequently. This breed is susceptible to deafness, so all dogs must be checked for that at an early age. If you purchase a dog from a responsible and conscientious breeder, there is little risk for you to come across an ill puppy. Some lines are prone to allergies and anaphylactic reactions to bites by insects. If you are planning to have a Bull Terrier in possession and would like to know more on the breed and its handling requirements, you may use your local Bull Terrier Kennel and consult a qualified specialist or breeder.
